THERE was some sad news for the crowd at Charing on Saturday, where the Mid-Surrey Farmer's drag held their fixture.

Crowd favourite Struggles Glory pulled up quickly in sight of his fifth race win of the season. Belvento took the victory and it was later discovered Struggles Glory had a fractured Sesamoid and in order to prevent further suffering, he was immediately put down

Struggles Glory won his first race at Charing in 1997 and went on to win 14 races in points, three hunter chases and three wins under rules, making a total of 20 wins in all, a great achievement.

There was plenty of other action.

Twenty-four year old Cynthis Hayden scored her maiden victory on board Indoux, timing her run to perfection at the second last.

Badger’s Glory held on to win the Restricted, a contrast with last week where he unseated his rider in sight of victory.

The South East Club Members’ race saw the return of Rhythm King, who justified odds of 1-4 to win by a distance.

The Ladies’ Open turned out to be another fine win for locally trained and ridden Millennium Way.

Jodi Sole, the Surrey-based rider had a really good day, second on his two previous rides, he took the final race, the Maiden, riding Mrs Sandy Walker’s Wanna Be Bay.
