Folkestone Invicta moved up to third place in Ryman League, Division 1 South with a 4-0 win at Merstham on Saturday - their biggest win of the season.

Merstham, previously unbeaten at home, contributed to their own downfall with two own goals after Invicta had taken a 16th-minute lead through Richard Atkins, and then Simon Austin added Folkestone's fourth five minutes from time.

Folkestone leap-frogged Maidstone United whose seven-match league winning run came to an end with a 1-1 draw at Whyteleafe.

After a goalless first half Graeme Andrews (pictured) put the Stones in front, but they then paid the penalty for wasting several chances when Stefan Gnamore equalised 10 minutes from time.

Down at the bottom Whitstable Town manager Peter Nott resigned after his side lost 3-0 at fellow strugglers Crawley Down.

Hythe Town were denied three points at home to Chipstead when Rob Atkins scored a last-gasp equaliser for the visitors after Richard Sinden had put Hythe in front 14 minutes from time.

Ramsgate also picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at Eastbourne Town. The home side led at half-time through Scott Kirkwood but the Rams drew level four minutes from time when Joe Taylor stabbed the ball home from close range.

In Division 1 North,Chatham Town suffered their fourth straight league defeat, going down 2-1 at Potters Bar.

The Chats fell behind to a first-minute header from Ashley Harrison-Barker and Josh Urquhart made it 2-0 just before half-time. Jon Pilbeam pulled one back five minutes from time but to no avail for Kevin Watson's side.

Thamesmead Town won 3-1 at Soham Town thanks to strikes from Lee Dawson and a penalty from Danny Penny, plus a superb solo effort from Danny Moore who ran the length of the field to score.
