This is what was left of a family's home after a Volkswagen Polo crashed into it.

Fortunately nobody inside the property was injured in the incident, which happened just before 2.30am on Saturday in The Green, Littlebourne, near Canterbury.

A 19-year-old man from the Canterbury area was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink-driving. He has since been bailed pending further investigation.

He was also treated for chest pains at the QEQM Hospital at Margate.

As well as structural damage, the car also caused a broken gas main. The house had to be evacuated and the family are with friends locally while it is made secure.

Temporary lights are in place and drivers are being warned to expect delays.
