EDUCATION practices that have made a Kent school one of the high fliers in the UK are be used as part of a national survey to help improve the quality of leadership and teaching in schools.

St George's School at Broadstairs has been hand-picked by experts at the Government’s Department for Education and Skills and the National College for School Leadership to take part in surveys and seminars as they evaluate just what contributes to the success.

The results will be assessed by the Universities of Warwick, London, Nottingham and Toronto and will be offered as a best practice template for other schools.

St George’s principal Keith Rumblo said: "It is a real feather in our cap and we are more than pleased to share what makes our school standards continue to rise."

St George’s is in the elite top 100 most improved schools in the UK. The high ranking placement reflects the year on year improvement.

The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust has described its performance since 2002 as "a wonderful achievement" and invited it to become a member of its coveted Most Improved Schools Club.
