School bus and biker involved in crash

A motorcyclist and a school bus were involved in an accident in a Kent village prompting pupils to call 999.

The male victim was flown by air ambulance to hospital in Ashford with a broken leg after the incident in Aylesham a little before 8am Thursday.

All the passengers on the bus, mostly schoolchildren heading towards Dover, and the driver escaped injury.

The 999 calls were reported to have come from pupils on the bus who were then transferred on to another bus.

The accident happened in Dorman Avenue North in the centre of the village.

The road up to and including Market Place was closed to traffic as ambulance staff treated the victim at the scene. It has since reopened.
