A school is celebrating its pupils getting twice as many GCSE passes than four years ago.
Headteacher of Minster College Alan Klee said he was delighted by the achievements of his students and he was also eager to praise his staff after the results came out today (Thursday).
There were 440 students who sat the exams and 207 of them achieved five A–C grades which is 47 per cent.
The figure four years ago was 21 per cent and two years ago the school was in special measures.
Mr Klee said: “The results show a massive improvement and they give a fantastic platform on which the new academy can build on. I predict that in five years time there will be students knocking at our door to get in."
The results at the college mirror national achievements which have seen the biggest annual rise since 1990 in the proportion of GCSE exam entries awarded top grades.
The pass rate rose again to 98 per cent around the country.
