SEVEN school children had to be taken to hospital after the bus they were travelling in was in collision with a car.

The Stagecoach single-deck vehicle was heading up Grange Road, Ramsgate, soon after 8am on Wednesday when the accident happened.

A blue Vauxhall Corsa travelling in the opposite direction slewed into a row of parked cars as it came round the bend near the junction with Crescent Road.

A 23-year-old Ramsgate man at the wheel of the Corsa had to be cut free by firefighters and was taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries.

Seven children on the bus suffered cuts and bruises as the bus was forced to make an emergency stop.

The site of the crash is on a route to several schools, including St Lawrence primary, Ellington Infants and Ellington School for Girls, plus several shops, a park and a doctor’s surgery.
