THE village of Whitfield is mourning the deaths of two teenagers killed in a car crash in nearby Folkestone Road, Dover, on Friday night.
They were passengers in a red Vauxhall Corsair which a passing driver found overturned near Farthingloe Farm at 9.50pm.
Emergency services were called but Miles Edwards, of Chestnut Close, and Adam Matcham, of Mayfield Road, were already dead.
The 17-year-old driver has not been named. He had a broken nose.
The lifelong friends had left Archers Court School last year to start work and a spokesman said: "The whole school is devastated by the news."
Head teacher Stuart Alcock added: "Miles was a gentle, friendly and caring boy and Adam was popular, enthusiastic and energetic."
Dave Yhnell, who runs Archers Court Youth Club, said: "They had been coming to the club regularly for four of five years and they were a couple of really pleasant kids. Even though they had left school, they still came back."
Miles, who had a sister Amy, 20, had started work last September and was in his first year as an apprentice bricklayer.
Colin Smith, contracts manager of Barwick Construction, Coombe Valley Road, Dover, said: "We thought the world of him. He was one of those lads people liked the minute he walked into a room. Barwick's is very much a family company and that's why everybody is devastated. We feel we've lost a member of our family."
Adam lived with his mother Karen, who works for Saga customer services, stepfather Ricky Letchford, a customer care agent on Eurotunnel, and sister Sarah, 18, who also works for Saga. He had joined his father Perry, of Kingsdown Road, St Margaret's, in his upholstery and carpet cleaning business as an upholstery technician.
A close family friend, Di Creighton, of Sandwich Road, Whitfield, said: "Adam was one in a million."
An area with a picnic table with benches is to be dedicated to the memory of Miles and Adam at Archers Court School
It is not known if any other vehicle was involved in the accident. Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the Corsa being driven.
The funeral for Adam will be held at Barham Crematorium on Friday at 1.30pm. Details of Miles' funeral have not been released.
