Schoolgirl in abduction bid ordeal

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses to the attempted abduction of a 15-year-old girl.

The teenager was walking along a footpath near farm fields off Pysons Road at Ramsgate when the incident happened.

Two men in a new looking, light blue car drove past her. They stopped and then reversed back to where she was.

The driver asked for directions to Ramsgate train station which the schoolgirl gave to him. However, the passenger then got out of the car and went towards her.

He took hold of the girl’s arm and pulled her towards the car, stating that she was going to get in the car and take them to the station.

The girl, from Broadstairs, managed to push the man away and ran off along Pysons Road. The car then drove off towards Margate Road.

Both men are described as being of Eastern European appearance, aged between 20 and 25, of slim build, with short brown hair and stubble on their face.

The incident occurred between 7pm and 7.30pm on Monday. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact DC Paul Gedge at Margate Police Station on (01843) 222 182. (ref 382)
