AN 11-year-old girl suffered serious head injuries when she was struck by a car on her way home from school.
Anna Hunter received multiple injuries, including two broken legs, in the accident in Station Approach, Hayes, and is in a medically-induced coma in Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Kieran Osborne, head teacher at Hayes School, where Anna is a pupil, said: "She is a bright and popular student who is an asset to Hayes School. Our thoughts are with Anna, her sister Sarah, who is in year 10, her younger brother, who is at primary school and her parents."
The accident took place on Thursday. Anna was taken by air ambulance to the Royal London Hospital where she underwent surgery. She was then transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital where she was put onto ventilation.
The Metropolitan Police’s traffic investigation unit at Catford is investigating the incident. Anyone with any information is asked to call Sgt Henderson on 020 8284 5925.
