No further snow fell in Medway overnight but freezing temperatures meant many roads and pathways were covered in ice.
Thousands of children were getting a second day off with many schools reporting closures.
Some were planning to open later in the day to give staff and pupils a chance to reach their destination safely.
Yesterday's weather wiped out trains in the area and Southeastern is only running a limited service today.
