Seafood and sun draw crowds to harbour day

Seafood by the bucketload was consumed at the annual Whitstable harbour day on Saturday.

Everything from boats to wind turbines was on display. Visitors were able to board ships, watch a diving display and ride on a miniature steam train.

Organiser Jean West, from the Whitstable Harbour Association, said: “The weather was really kind to us and everyone was pleased with how it went.”

Mrs West, of West Whelks, added: “We opened 2,620 oysters in the one day and

everyone else was busy as well.

“The businesses did well and I had so many comments about the band, who were

excellent.”
