Snow flurries continue to blanket the East Kent Downs and various parts of the county as a yellow weather warning for snow and ice remains in place.
The colder weather continues for many heading into the weekend with more icy conditions expected, the Met Office has warned.
Snow flurries continue to hit Kent
A yellow warning remains in place for the east of the county until 10am.
Residents have woken up to snow showers across different parts of the county with pictures appearing to show a thick blanket of white snow covering Etchinghill in the East Kent Downs, near Folkestone.
Due to the icy conditions some disruption to travel is expected.
Kent County Council says it has deployed its gritters out overnight but some routes may remain slippy and it has urged road users to exercise caution.
It will also be windy with local gales possible on the coasts.
Coupled with the sleet and snow is the drop in temperatures that many places have already been experiencing.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Steve Ramsdale said, “As cold air continues to be drawn down from the north there is the potential for wintry showers to affect almost any area of the UK.
“Although there’s unlikely to be widespread accumulations of snow there is a risk of some disruption in eastern and southeastern areas."
The bad weather has also scuppered plans for the official reopening of the Folkestone Harbour Arm.
The 2022 season at the popular tourist trap was due to kick off today, but has now been delayed by 24 hours.
A spokesman said: "Due to some unexpectedly poor weather being predicted (where did that sudden summer go?!), we have taken the decision to postpone our site-wide reopening by just 24 hours to Saturday, April 2.
"Our bars, restaurants and coffee shops with indoor space will remain open, but street-food style vendors on the Harbour Arm and in the Goods Yard will now reopen on Saturday."
The snow continues in Ashford
It's in sharp contrast to some of the warmer weather the county has been experienced in recent weeks.
Yesterday snow stopped play in a county cricket friendly between Kent and Lancashire held at Canterbury.
