Securicor guard ambushed outside building society

A MASKED robber ambushed a Securicor guard as he left a building society in Petts Wood, Bromley.

The robbery took place as the guard left The Woolwich, in Fairway, at about 4pm on Wednesday.

The guard was walking back to his van carrying a secure box when a white van pulled up behind him and a man jumped out demanding he drop the box.

Fearing for his welfare, he did so and the robbers made off with the goods.

It is not yet known how much was taken in the robbery. It is believed there where two men involved. The driver, and the man who jumped out of the van.

Detectives from the Tower Bridge Flying Squad are investigating the robbery, the second in the area in a month. Robert James Jewellers in Queensway, Petts Wood, was targeted on September 22.

Det Sgt Paul Bickley, said: "At this time we have no reason to believe the two recent incidents are connected, although we are keeping an open mind."
