Serious crash involving a cyclist and a lorry closes Haine Road, Ramsgate

A cyclist has suffered serious injuries in a collision with a flat bed lorry in Ramsgate.

Kent Police were called to the crash, which happened near the entrance to the Haine Industrial Estate shortly before 3pm.

The road has been closed between the junctions of Spratling Street and Manston Road to allow investigations to be carried out.

It is expected to remain closed for some time, with drivers urged to use Canterbury Road West, the A299 Thanet Way and the A28 Canterbury Road for travel towards the Margate area, or Canterbury Road East for travel into central Ramsgate.

The injured cyclist - a man in his 20s - has been taken to the QEQM hospital, Margate, where his condition is described by police as "serious".
