A 14-year-old schoolgirl has been sexually assaulted by two young men on the Great Lines at Gillingham.
It is believed the girl, from Strood, had become separated from a group of friends when she was the victim of a serious attack at the popular beauty spot, close to Marlborough Road.
The two men are thought to be of Eastern European appearance. Police have arrested one young suspect in connection with the incident but are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the attack to come forward.
After the attack police officers sealed off the area for more than three hours while they made a fingertip search looking for evidence.
A Medway Police spokesman said: "Officers are still making initial investigations. Although it is clear the girl became separated from the main group, which is when the attack happened, it is not yet known whether the two youths were part of the main group."
The two attackers ran off in the direction of Chatham town centre. Both are thought to be aged between 17 and 18 and 5ft 9in and 5ft 11in tall. Both were wearing loose clothing.
The incident happened on Monday between 7pm and 7.30pm. Anyone with information is asked to contact Medway Police on 01634 884252 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
