Sex attacker pounces on female student

DETECTIVES are searching for a man who indecently assaulted a student as she walked home from college. The girl left the Kent Institute of Art and Design in Chatham's Fort Pitt Hill and began walking down some steps at about 6.30pm last night.

The student, who lives in Rochester, saw a man in the shadows and carried on to walk by him. But as she did so, he grabbed hold of her and carried out the assault.

The attacker is described as a white man aged between 26-28. He was wearing a mustard coloured bomber jacket with dark jeans and a blue denim shirt. He had light brown-cropped hair and was clean-shaven.

DC Steve Shorter, of Medway police, said: "The victim managed to run away from the man. We are appealing for anyone in the area at the time or who may have seen the attacker to come forward. Anyone who recognises the description of the man who carried out this attack is also asked to contact Medway Police on 01634 884252 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
