A SHOP assistant who was threatened by a knife-wielding robber has spoken about her ordeal.
Claire Howett is still reeling following the armed robbery at the One Stop Shop, in Station Road, Rainham, last week.
The 26-year-old shop worker was behind the till when the robber barged through a side door brandishing a blade before he demanded money.
Claire, who had to have medical treatment for shock, said: "The man came in with the knife in his hand and started shouting at me to open the till. He started moving towards me shouting orders.
"And then he started to try and open the till himself but he was pressing all the wrong buttons and I could barely move because I was in too much shock. I eventually came round and opened the till and he grabbed the money and ran off."
The man is being hunted by police. He was wearing dark top and light blue jeans with Doc Marten boots and a balaclava. He is described as being 5ft 9in tall with a local accent.
Claire said: "I have started taking some serious medication to help me get over this. I'm still extremely shocked but am not going to let him beat me. I'm going to make an effort to go back to the shop and hopefully that will speed the recovery."
Shop manager Sam Kinsella, added: "We never keep more than £50 in the till at any one time. It's standard practice and it would not be worth our while."
