Shopkeeper robbed at knifepoint

A shopkeeper is recovering after being robbed at knife-point at about 8.15pm in Albany Road, Luton, on Monday.

Police say the robber demanded cash, cigarettes and alcohol before running off in the direction of nearby Victoria Road.

The shop owner received a minor injury to his face and was treated at hospital.

The suspect was in his early to mid-20s, more than 6ft, with short dark hair and long sideburns.

He wore a black baseball cap, dark parka jacket with fur around the hood, blue jeans and dark trainers.

Police are carrying out house-to-house inquiries and checking CCTV footage of the area.

PC Lisa Stevens,from Kent Police, said: “This robbery occurred along a busy street and I am certain there are a number of potential witnesses who have yet to come forward.”
