KENT Police have identified a woman who was fatally injured when she was struck by a lorry on her way back from a shopping trip.

Pat Fisher, a 77-year-old grandmother, was in collision with a 7.5 ton truck lorry on the corner of Queens Road and Skinner Road, Lydd, near Hythe, on Monday afternoon. The lorry was reversing round a corner.

Mrs Fisher, who was with her grandson at the time, lived alone at Vinelands at Lydd. She was taken to hospital in Ashford by air ambulance but died shortly after arriving there.

One of Mrs Fisher's neighbours, mother-of-two Jo Davis, paid tribute to a “wonderful lady who always had time to spare for everyone”.

Mrs Davis stressed: “Mrs Fisher would always stop and chat and she loved the children. She always had time for everybody and was just a genuinely lovely lady.

“She was always working on her garden and loved flowers and I understand she used to do her daughter’s garden. The whole of Lydd seems to be in shock at what has happened and I can’t quite believe it.”
