A BIG send off for Medway gymnast Victoria Loftus, who is due to fly to China on Friday for the Special Olympics, has been cancelled because she is unwell.

Her mother Sue Mackey said she still hoped Victoria, 15, would fly to Shanghai with the rest of the Special Olympic team, but the celebration at Chatham's Pentagon Shopping Centre, would not now go ahead.

She said Victoria had developed a tummy bug which had lasted longer than expected. There might still be a celebration, postponed to Thursday, but it would be on a much smaller scale.
