Crash investigators are appealing for help to trace a vital witness to a fatal crash, in which a Rochester motorist was also injured.

The crash happened at about 4pm on Saturday, January 24, in the Overcliffe area of London Road, Gravesend.

Police want to speak with the driver of a small silver car, which is believed to have been behind the vehicle which hit 16-year-old pedestrian, Josh Callaghan.

Josh, from Canon Road, Bromley, was walking along the pavement with his father when the accident happened.

He was taken to hospital but died later as a result of his injuries.

Also involved in the collision was a maroon-coloured Vauxhall Vectra.

The driver, who is from Rochester, has now been discharged from hospital.

Sgt Glen Braidwood from Kent Police’s serious crash investigation unit, said: “We have information that a small silver car was following the Vauxhall just before the collision.

“It is likely that the driver will have vital information which will help us piece together exactly what happened in the moments leading up to this tragic incident.

“I would urge them to get in touch as soon as possible.”
