A thug who broke his mate's skull by repeatedly stamping on his head has been jailed.

Troy Stephens, 23, beat his 41-year-old pal on a night out drinking with him in Sittingbourne.

Victim Alex Cameron was rushed to hospital after the incident in Bell Road on August 20.

Maidstone Crown Court heard the pair had got into a row before violence sparked.

Mr Cameron suffered severe bruising to his face and head after being repeatedly stamped on by Stephens.

The court heard Mr Cameron was "too drunk to properly defend himself".

On November 5 Stephens, of Chilton Avenue, admitted grievous bodily harm.

He was handed a total of two years and three months behind bars.

Investigating officer DC Steve Rees, from Mid Kent’s Area Major Enquiry Team, said: "The pair knew each other and had been out drinking in Sittingbourne that evening.

"Both were drunk when some kind of argument broke out as they sat on the pavement in Bell Road.

"The sentence shows how seriously the courts view violence and I hope it reinforces the message that this type of crime won’t be tolerated."
