Homebase branches in Broadstairs, Chatham, Folkestone, Herne Bay, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hit the market

Six Kent Homebase stores have been put on the market after the chain fell into administration.

The DIY giant confirmed on November 13 it had appointed administrators following widespread speculation it was about to make the move.

It also revealed that 70 of its stores had been snapped up by group CDS, which owns The Range and Wilko, securing the future of up to 1,600 jobs and 70 stores.

Now, six of Kent’s eight branches have gone up for sale.

The leaseholds for shops in Broadstairs, Chatham, Folkestone, Herne Bay, Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells are all available.

They are part of 74 stores across the UK to go on the market.

Administrators have set a deadline of November 29 for potential suitors to buy the remaining stores, amid efforts to secure more funds for creditors.

Homebase was waiting on around £5 million of tax rebates before collapsing into administration.

Banking giant Wells Fargo declined to extend the group’s lending facility due to concerns about its finances.
