A driver tried to smuggle 50 kilos of skunk cannabis into Dover - disguised as baby milk powder.

Lukasz Rogaczewski, 28, was stopped at the town's Eastern Docks in May driving a Mercedes van, Canterbury Crown Court heard.

The Polish shopkeeper claimed he was taking 180 tins of milk powder to Ireland.

But a Border Control officer became suspicious and opened one of the boxes.

The court heard the official needed a hammer to break open the metal seals - and inside they discovered cannabis with a street value of up to £400,000.

Rogaczewski denied a smuggling charge was found guilty and jailed for four and a half years.
