Snow, sleet and rain is expected to fall in Kent tonight as temperatures continue to plummet to 0°C.
The Met Office has warned there could be a dusting of the white stuff overnight which could turn to sleet by the morning.
It comes as a yellow alert for snow and ice remains in place until midnight tomorrow (January 5) across Kent with the exception of Romney Marsh, part of the Canterbury district, Thanet, Dover and the east of the Isle of Sheppey.
Tomorrow it will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain which could turn heavy, especially first thing.
Temperatures should be milder by tomorrow afternoon with a maximum temperature predicted at 12°C, but windy coastal gales are still on the cards.
Earlier this week the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issued an amber Cold-Health Alert for all regions of England until midday on Wednesday.
The authority warns that low temperatures are likely to cause a significant impact across health and social care services.
Vulnerable people, including those over 65 to with pre-existing health conditions are also at an increased risk.
Elsewhere in the UK, an amber severe weather warning means conditions are expected to be much worse with parts of Northern England expected to see 30 to 40cm of snow.
Councils across London and southern England have activated emergency measures including additional accommodation to help rough sleepers stay safe during the cold snap.
Milder air will briefly cover some southern areas during the weekend before a new northerly flow allows colder conditions to return across the UK next week, the Met Office said.
Deputy chief forecaster Dan Holley said temperatures would remain below average with some areas struggling to get above freezing for several days.
Further weather warnings could be issued for the start of next week.
