The weather is set to turn wintry later this week with snow expected to reach the South East.
And, say Met Office forecasters, that is likely to bring the white stuff to the hills of the county during Wednesday.
With much of the county seeing the New Year in with temperatures only just above zero, the next 48 hours is likely to bring a mix of rain and wintry showers.
Looking ahead, the Met Office says: "Scattered showers will feed across eastern parts of the UK during Wednesday with a chance of more prolonged rain and hill snow across the South East later.
"For the rest of the week and into the weekend conditions are likely to turn more widely unsettled with a mixture of rain, sleet and snow for many parts of the UK. Overnight frosts and icy stretches are also expected with temperatures below average."
However, it expects the cold weather to ease by the middle of January - although warning that could come with the "potential for periods of rain and strong winds".
