A health worker who walked 15 miles through snow to get to his job has become as national celebrity.

Peter Cartwright, has now received prizes from two TV shows and attracted a rash of media attention following his efforts to reach his workplace during last week’s snow.

Mr Cartwright, a 52-year-old radiographer at London's Guy's Hospital, of Essella Road, Ashford, said: "I am amazed at the impact this has had."

The following Saturday he was invited to join the studio audience in London for the Sky 1 topical show Noel’s HQ where host Noel Edmonds presented him and his wife Tina a prize of a weekend at a spa hotel.

ITV’s Alan Titchmarsh Show also sent him a National Treasure Award 2009 and his tenacity was additionally raised in the channel’s magazine programme Loose Women.

The story has also appeared in most national newspapers.

Mr Cartwright, of Essella Road, Ashford, added: "An awful lot of other staff also made it to work in those difficult conditions.

"I think the British spirit is within us all and people are desperate to get away from the risk assessment culture. But I also feel bemused by all the attention."
