Solar circus turns on heat to be Green

Wacky inventions and inflatable marine mammals will all be part of the fun when the UK’s first nationally touring solar powered circus comes to Thanet on Saturday, May 17.

The Green Fayre will be in Dane Park, Cliftonville, offering a fascinating variety of green-themed family entertainment.

On Saturday, circus shows will start at 1, 2 and 3pm, with a special circus skills workshop at 11am.

The fun includes inflatable whales and dolphins, the Scrapstore tent, where you can make things out of waste, and electric cars, bicycles and tricycles.

Admission is free with only one charge, £1, for rides on the solar powered merry-go-round.

On Friday, May 16, more than 1,000 children will watch the circus shows.

The event is being funded by the Safer Stronger Communities Fund (SSCF), which aims to transform the wards of Cliftonville West and Margate Central and Dane Park green space.

There will be a SSCF exhibition tent where visitors can find out about projects, including those run by clubs, groups and residents and paid for by SSCF over the past two years. There will also be information on grants and loans to improve energy efficiency within the home.

Carla Wenham-Jones, SSCF Programme Manager, said the event was a good chance to see the improvements to Dane Park and view the results of 82 SSCF-funded projects over the past two years.
