Mars has ordered a mass recall of some of Britain's favourite treats after plastic was discovered in chocolate bars.

The recall covers Mars Funsize, Celebrations and Miniture Snickers, among others, made between specific dates this year.

The recall covers several different products in 55 countries, and follows the discovery of plastic in a German Snickers bar, believed to have come from the company's factory in the southern town of Veghel.

Mars has not said how much the recall will cost, or how many products are affected.

The affected products have the following best before dates - check yours:

• Celebrations 388g box - May 8 2016 to August 28, 2016
• Celebrations 245g box - May 8 2016 to August 28, 2016
• Snickers Miniature 2.5kg - catering case August 7, 2016 to August 14, 2016
• Mars Funsize250g bag - September 11 2016 to October 2, 2016
• Milky Way Funsize 227g bag - October 2, 2016
• Variety Funsize Family favourites - May 29, 2016 to August 14, 2016
• Variety Funsize Party Mix - May 15, 2016 to August 7, 2016
