West End musical star Tabitha Webb will return to her roots on Sunday, August 10, to perform at a special summer event as a thank-you to the organisation which supported her training.
Margate-born soprano Tabitha, who has an illustrious singing CV, will sing numbers from the shows and jazz classics at a summer supper and concert at Quex House, Birchington.
The event is in aid of the Canterbury and East Kent branch of the English Speaking Union which helped Tabitha with a scholarship to complete post-graduate studies at The Royal Academy for Music.
A former pupil at Drapers Mills Primary School, St George’s and St Lawrence College, Tabitha, nee Watling, is more recently known for singing as the lead Christine in Phantom of the Opera on 70 occasions.
In Les Miserables, she understudies the major role of Cosette as well as cameoing members of the Paris mob.
At 16, Tabitha won the BBC Choirgirl of The Year competition, an experience which led to many television and radio performances.
Following A-levels, she completed a music degree at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
She will sing at Quex accompanied by her husband’s group The Notable Exceptions with Robert Webb on keyboards and Andy Staples on double bass.
The evening starts at 6pm with drinks, then music, buffet supper and more music. Tickets for non members are £30 and the proceeds will go to the branch’s fund for educational scholarships. They can be booked on 01227 786048/01843 841428.
