GILLINGHAM have confirmed the capture of midfielder Nicky Southall from League 1 rivals Nottingham Forest.

The 35-year-old was a crowd favourite during his first spell at Priestfield, in which he made 238 appearances for the club.

He left for the City Ground in 2005.

Southall has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Gills.
