DETECTIVES are warning customers not to buy speed camera devices after £25,000 worth of stock was stolen from a Kent warehouse.

Kent Police are saying anyone who buys the Road Pilot systems will be worthless after they were stolen from Road Pilot Ltd on the Medway City Estate, Rochester on January 20.

A group of people loaded the Micro-go and Road Pilot systems into a van before driving away.

Det Con Bal Billen said if the technology is not registered with Road Pilot within three months it will become obsolete.

"It will be impossible to register the stolen speed camera alert systems and therefore anyone who thinks they are getting a bargain will invariably end up paying the price," he said.

"If you are offered one of these items and you think it may be stolen, you are actually committing a criminal offence by purchasing it. If an offer seems to good to be true, it probably means it is."

The burglary happened shortly after a theft from a car belonging to a Road Pilot employee in which documents with the address of the Rochester firm were stolen. As the offence occurred in London detectives are not ruling out the possibility that the suspects are not local to Medway.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 01634 792528 or Kent CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111.
