Research from Britannia Rescue shows the vast majority of people believe speed cameras should be painted bright colours.
Recent research conducted by Britannia Rescue, shows that nine out of 10 of the nation's drivers are in favour of speed cameras being painted bright colours, like orange, rather than grey.
Perhaps the strength of feeling on this topic shows that the public, while not necessarily against the use of speed cameras, believe firmly that they should be a deterrent, not a revenue generator.
If all cameras were painted a bright colour it may help many more see them, stop many drivers committing offences and make roads
safer.
Some cameras have themselves become news, like the camera on a bus lane in Barnet which has become the first to make £1 million in fines from motorists.
Malcom Phillips, chief executive of Britannia Rescue, said: "There is a strong message here for police forces and councils around the
country.
"The motorist accepts the need for cameras to help police speed limits, but is almost unanimously in favour of them being much more visible than many are.
"After all, it would seem the more visible the cameras are, the more likely it is for the motorist to adhere to the speed limit."
