Staff member attacked in fast food outlet

A TEENAGER was attacked as he tried to serve customers at a fast food restaurant.

Karl Wilde, 19, received severe bruising to his arm after the charity box at the McDonald’s Restaurant in Bobbing was thrown at him after he refused to give the man free food.

He said: "A man and a woman came in with a child, they ordered their food but they had to wait a few minutes which they weren’t pleased about.

"I turned my back and the man put his hand in the dessert cabinet and pulled out a muffin and gave it to his child.

"I asked them if they had the money to pay for it and they said yes, but then they said they didn’t want it any more, and told me to re-sell it.

"I tried to explain that I couldn’t because of hygiene reasons and they just started threatening me and saying they wanted free food.

"I turned round and saw the man lob the money box at me. It was pretty full so very heavy. Luckily, I saw it so was able to put my arm up to protect my face, but had I had my back to him it would have hit me in the back of my head."

Mr Wilde, of Beauvoir Drive, said the man then tried to get round the counter but his manager stopped him, they paid for their food and left.

Swale police confirmed they were investigating the incident and examining CCTV footage.

The incident happened on Sunday, June 11 at about 9pm.
