Stamp of approval for county's film talent

Roar with laughter or shriek with horror at the Royal Mail's latest set of stamps.

Kent connections abound for the six cinematic stamps marking the 50th birthday of the Carry On film and the first Hammer Dracula movie.

Carry on producer Peter Rogers was not only born and educated in Rochester, but started his career on the Ashford-based Kentish Express newspaper.

Hammer horror star Peter Cushing, who lived in Whitstable, features in the collection.

Other locals involved in the Carry On saga include the late Charles Hawtry, who lived in Deal, and Hattie Jacques, who hailed from Sandgate.
