Two Kent stars made their way up the red carpet last night for the premier of their latest film.

Gravesham's Gemma Arterton has been working alongside former Dartford Pizza Hut worker Mackenzie Crook in the film Three and Out - a British comedy about a London tube driver who can make millions if he can find a suicidal person willing to fall in front of his train.

The film has sparked much controversy from real-life tube drivers and organisations such as The Samaritans, which claim the film is irresponsible and the subject matter unfunny.

Members of the train driver’s union Aslef handed out leaflets explaining their opposition to the film, while upcoming Bond girl Gemma and Mackenzie greeted hundreds of fans at the premiere at the Odeon in London's Leicester Square.

They were joined by Irish actor Colm Meaney and Harry Potter star Imelda Staunton, who also appear in the film.

Responding to Aslef’s protests at the premiere, Mackenzie urged people to see the film before judging it.

He said: “"They are quite right to come down and point that someone falling under a train is distressing and pointing those issues out.

“But (the film) does not dwell on those issues and it is not a controversial film. It is a comedy and it is a very funny comedy. It is a road movie about friendship and human emotions."

Three and Out hits UK cinemas on Friday, certificate 15.
