Review: Steps, Rochester Castle Concerts, Thursday, July 26.
By Jess Banham
For some, they may have been better best forgotten but for the thousands of people who turned up to their concert at Rochester Castle on Thursday, former 1990s pop group Steps were worth the wait.
It always seems to take a little too long for the main act to come on stage at the Castle Concerts but Abba tribute act Bjorn Again managed to keep everyone dancing.
Although they didn’t always look as comfortable as they used to on stage, when Steps did appear they didn’t disappoint fans and had a whole host of co-ordinated dance moves up their sleeves. It’s actually easy to forget how many catchy tunes they had - 14 consecutive top five hits to be exact.
Their set was marred slightly when the sound system seemed to break but the crowds managed to fill the 20 minute gap with multiple choruses of "We Want Steps!"
When they arrived back on stage they managed to keep up the momentum, though, and finally gave everyone what they had been waiting for by performing Tragedy as their encore.
In fact the only thing missing was a rendition of 5,6,7,8 – and I’d brought my cowboy hat and everything!
