Time is running out to book a table at Medway’s biggest charity wine and wisdom evening.
The KM Big Quiz will take place at the Black Lion Leisure Centre, Mill Road, Gillingham at 7pm on Friday, June 6, and tickets can be bought using the application form printed in the Medway Messenger or through the website www.kmbigquiz.co.uk
Asda at Chatham are the latest sponsor to sign up to back the fun event and are to provide 14 dozen bottles of wne to treat every guest with a complimentary glass and sufficient left over so that every member of the top 10 teams on the night receive a bottle.
Causes to benefit from the proceeds are: CLIC Sargent children’s cancer charity, Mayor of Medway Charity Appeal, children’s road safety charity Kent and Medway Walking Bus Group and St Paul’s Church, Parkwood which is raising funds for Hope08.
The cost for a table of eight people is £56, which is £7 per person. The ticket price includes a ploughman’s meal and a glass of wine.
Phil Jay from the management team at Asda, Chatham, is to select wines from the store’s current three bottles for £10 promotion, which boasts 70 ranges and brands.
Simon Dolby, who is chairman of the KM Walking Bus Project and will be questionmaster at the charity event, said the evening would appeal to the serious quiz-goer as well as groups just there for a fun night out.
He said: “Questions will be carefully selected to ensure everyone enjoys themselves.
“There will be a mix of easy ones to appeal to the quiz novices, as well as a number of tougher brain-teasers to guarantee the eventual winner has earned it!”
He stressed that the KM Big Quiz was a team event and that individuals would not have a spotlight turned on them and be asked to answer questions.
A number of sponsors have already agreed to support the KM Big Quiz with the Black Lion Leisure Centre providing the venue at a substantial discount and P&O Ferries donating vouchers for all eight members of the winning team to take a car and up to nine passengers to France for an extended trip. Shepherd Neame will run the Spitfire Charity Bar and St Paul’s Church, Parkwood will create the ploughman’s meals.
Mr Dolby said: “We are keen to hear from other companies interested in sponsoring this event, either by providing prizes for the winners on the night, or by sponsoring quiz rounds.”
Peel Ports Medway have agreed to support the event but more sponsors are needed. To have a quiz round named after your business or organisation costs £100 in sponsorship. To be a main sponsor for the event costs £500. For information call Mr Dolby on 07989 164 752.
