Stolen truck brings down electricity cables

POLICE believe a vehicle that drove off after hitting an electricity pole in a Kent village in the early hours of Sunday morning was later found burnt out.

The electricity pole incident brought down cables on a sharp bend at Stone Street, near Petham, at around 2.30am.

Police say the vehicle involved is thought to be a black Nissan Navara pick-up reported stolen on Sunday. It was later found burnt out on Chequers Hill, Petham.

EDF Energy were called to make the fallen cables safe and the road was closed. It was fully re-opened at 5.45am.
