A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office for tomorrow evening.

It follows heavy rain and wind which hit Kent yesterday amid Storm Ciaran.

The alert covers the whole county and comes into force from 3pm. It is set to last until midnight.

The warning says: “Frequent heavy showers, along with gusty winds, are likely to cause travel disruption and flooding of a few places.”

Spray and flooding could see delays in journeys on the roads, while buses and trains could also be affected by the rainy forecast.

Homes and businesses may also become flooded and large waves from the sea are likely to lead to dangerous conditions along the coastline.

Ahead of the alert, one popular fireworks display has been cancelled after parking areas became unusable following heavy rain which had hit the county earlier this week.

Folkestone Rugby Club bosses said it was a “huge blow” to have to axe the event, which was set to happen tomorrow evening, but felt they had no other option.

“We regret to announce that due to the bad weather and how it has affected the surfaces used for parking, we have no choice but to cancel Fireworks Night this year,” their online statement says.

“This is a huge blow to the club as it generates much-needed revenue and the decision hasn't been taken lightly.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Other fireworks events including displays at Leeds Castle, Quex Park, Ashford Rugby Club and the Kent Cricket Ground are still set to go ahead with many already being sold out.

Following yesterday’s amber alert for wind, which saw gales get as high as 85 mph in coastal areas, flood warnings remain in place across several parts of Kent while there is still some travel disruption.

Operation Brock remains in place on the M20’s coastbound carriageway between Junction 8 and Junction 9 to assist with delays caused for freight traffic getting to the docks due to the storm.
