Street's Christmas tribute to death crash victim

A GLITTERING display of lights is a Sheppey street's Christmas tribute to a young father killed in a road crash. As the illuminations were switched on at Foxley Road, Queenborough, neighbours' thoughts turned to Mark Le Masonry, who died last month.

About £338 was raised for a trust fund for his four-year-old son, known as DJ. Residents felt the lights display was a fitting tribute to Mark who had lived with his family in Foxley Road since it was built nearly 30 years ago.

All homes participating lit up after the signal rocket went off. One of the organisers, Phil Williams, said: "Everything was absolutely wonderful. Everybody had Mark in their minds and was remembering him. It was quite an emotional get-together. We do this for no other reason that to make the estate nice and bright for Christmas."

Father Christmas was there, giving sweets to the children. Phil's wife, Sharon, another co-organiser, said: "We would like to thank everybody in Foxley Road for the effort they have out in, and also everybody who made a donation."
