Gilingham goalkeeper Stuart Nelson feels the club have what it takes to secure League 2 promotion this season.
The Gills have 18 league matches left and head into the game against Wycombe tonight sitting a point off leaders Port Vale.
Only one new player arrived at Priestfield on transfer deadline day – midfielder Anton Robinson from Huddersfield – but Nelson believes the squad was already more than capable.
He said: “The squad here is capable of doing what we set out to do. It doesn’t matter who plays because everyone in the squad can do a job.
“We are on track for our targets we set at the start of the season. We will get knocks but as long as we bounce back, that’s what matters.
“From our last five games, we’ve won three, drawn one, lost one and conceded just three, so it hasn’t been a bad month. I would take that from now until the end of the season. That will get us where we want to be.”
The match against Wycombe will be live on Sky Sports but it doesn’t make any difference to Nelson.
He said: “It’s the same grass, the same stadium and the same people supporting us for every kick of the ball.”
