Student hit by van suffers serious head injury

An 18-year-old college student was today airlifted to hospital after she was struck by a van in Kent.

She suffered a serious head injury in the incident, which happened as she was crossing Lower Chantry Lane, Canterbury at 12.40pm.

The student, who was unconscious, was flown to a London hospital by the Kent Air Ambulance.

The road was closed while treatment was given.
