TWO 18-year-old students have been found guilty by a court of setting fire to a train carriage, causing £860,000 worth of damage.
Students Joseph Eales and Gence Emek, both from West Wickham, near Bromley, started the fire on a late night train from London to Hayes shortly before the train arrived at West Wickham station, on August 11 last year.
British Transport Police Det Con Malcolm McCulloch, who led the investigation, said: "It was extremely lucky that no-one else was in the carriage at the time and thankfully no one was injured."
The jury at Croydon Crown Court found both defendants guilty of arson with intent to endanger life.
They will be sentenced by Judge Waller, on December 1.
