Sugarfree's BGT dream over

THEY may have not danced their way to the final but these girls certainly proved to Britain they have talent.

North Kent dance troupe Sugar Free Streetdance performed in front of millions of viewers last Thursday when they appeared on the live semi final of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Despite not being sweet enough to make it to Saturday’s live final which crowned male street dance troupe Diversity the winner, the seven girls from Dartford, Higham, Bexley and Sidcup certainly made an impression on pretty judge Amanda Holden.

The actress said: "You gave the boys a run for their money. This is a tough category but I definitely think there’s room for lip gloss and sparkles."

Unfortunately their carefully constructed routine to Britney’s Spears "Circus" and hand-customised costumes only prompted a luke-warm reaction from TV’s Mr Nasty Simon Cowell.

He said: "It was good but I don’t think it was brilliant. It didn’t feel as if you were involved in the choreography. It felt as if someone older had put it together. It was just a little bit stage school for me."

But his claim that the girls did not choreograph the routine themselves has been refuted by Louise Carlier who runs the group from the Goodman Dance Centre, in Market Street, Dartford.

She said: "They worked really hard on the routine. I watched them in the audience and was really really proud of them. They got fantastic comments from the other judges and they were all happy with performance they gave."
