A sucidal father who made terrifying threats to go on a mass murder spree after taking a "lethal cocktail" of cannabis and anti-psychotic drugs has avoided being locked up.
Mark Brown was told by a judge the best way forward was to allow him to remain at liberty under a suspended prison sentence of 32 weeks with supervision for two years.
The 36-year-old told an operator he would cause even more bloodshed than notorious killers Derek Bird and Raoul Moat (pictured below).
Judge Philip Statman (pictured above left) last month rejected a recommendation that Brown be sentenced to supervision with a curfew.
"Heaven forbid that anything else should happen in the future," he said. "No doubt people will be asking: ‘What did the judge at Maidstone do before passing the sentence he did?’
"One has only got to look at the men he has mentioned in terms of what he said to police."
Maidstone Crown Court heard Brown went to his brother’s home in the Kings Hill area on August 7 last year and was distressed that his partner had been unfaithful to him and left him.
He talked about killing himself. He later argued with his brother and was told to leave the house.
Brown then dialled 999 and made threats, saying he had weapons.
"He said he was going to punish a lot of people and officers would require body bags," said prosecutor Jo Cope. "He went on to say Derek Bird and Raoul Moat were nothing on him."
He continued: "I am always the one pushed. Please understand this: This will be another Raoul Moat incident. Please don’t let me do something stupid.
"I am going to kill the first f----- that comes near me. This is going down in a blaze of bullets."
Brown was still in his car in Kings Hill when police arrived. He drove off and officers believed he was trying to provoke them into killing him.
At one point he reversed into a police car at speed, causing £5,000 worth of damage.
A stinger device was eventually used to puncture his tyres, but he drove on. He finally had to be subdued with a Taser device.
Brown, of Saxon Gardens, Shoeburyness, Essex, admitted making threats and criminal damage.
