Sunbather abused on beach

A SPANISH woman has been assaulted in what is thought to be a racially aggravated attack while sunbathing on Margate's main sands.

The 30-year-old victim, who lives in the town, was on the beach when she was approached by three people who started shouting racial abuse at her. They kicked sand at her and slapped her before walking off.

The culprits were in their early twenties. Two were men with short, dark brown hair and wore shorts. The other attacker was a woman with dark, brown hair in a ponytail who was in a bikini.

Witnesses to the attack at 10.30am on Sunday are still being sought. They are asked to telephone CID at Margate Police Station on 01843 222192.
