A SUSPECT suitcase left on a bus led to a section of a street being cordoned off on Thursday evening.

Part of Pierremont Avenue, near Pierremont Hall, Broadstairs, was closed as a precautionary measure while bomb disposal officers investigated the suitcase.

Some local residents and office workers were moved to place of safety while officers carried out a controlled explosion at about 7.30pm.

A Kent Police spokesman said the case turned out to be empty.
