Suspects held over international child porn ring

TWO men from Kent have been arrested for their suspected involvement in an international child pornography ring.

A 61-year-old man from Bromley and a 48-year-old man from Orpington were detained by the Metropolitan Police on suspicion of possessing, manufacturing and distributing indecent images of children.

Details of the arrests, made in September, have just been revealed by New Scotland Yard and show the men were targeted as part of Operation Koala.

Both men have been bailed to return to South London police stations later this month.

As part of the operation, the Met’s paedophile unit and child investigation teams swooped on addresses across London.

They arrested five men, including the two from the borough of Bromley.

Operation Koala came about in 2006 after a web-site based in Italy was discovered making tailor-made videos of abuse for distribution across the globe.

Twenty-two forces across the UK are taking part in Operation Koala and so far 46 suspects have been arrested nationwide.
